In exchange I offer you my January top tip: So. Many. Candles. Burn candles 100% of the time. They smell good and make your dark home feel warm, bright, and cosy. Bonus points if you then curl up with an audiobook, a fuzzy blanket, and a hot water bottle.
Eeeeeeeeeee I am SO EXCITED for Making Worlds! I am a feminist book nerd, and this is indeed my fantasy. (Also a Tumblr user, so you know what that means.)
My current January survival strategy is trying to create one thing every day. It can be cooking (been playing around with crock pot recipes and found this amazing vegan mac and cheese powder recipe to be able to make quick mac and cheese on down days https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/homemade-vegan-mac-cheese-powder/ ), sewing (I'm trying out a pattern to make fabric storage bins to organize my linen closet, and I made an easy little stuffed frog for my nephew--just waiting for the filling to arrive), drawing/painting (of literally whatever, even just taking five minutes to put some marks on a page), and miscellaneous crafts (making a cute little envelope out of a magazine picture, book page folding is my next project, whatever). It helps me feel accomplished to create a little thing, and the feeling of making something for myself makes me feel all cozy and domestic.
I am also reading Plain Bad Heroines right now! Thanks for the recs and being a constant in my life since before the pandemic. Seconding the burning candles comment. Even if it's LED candles. The vibes can not be beat.
Wait where is the soup recipe though?
